Disney Buys Lucasfilm

I really don't think this is a hoax....it's everywhere.

"Media giant Disney has purchased movie and TV production house Lucasfilm for $4.05B in cash and stock. Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga.

I really don't know how I feel about this... wasn't Star Wars supposed to be Anakin Skywalker's story? What now that he's dead? And surely Mark Hamill is too old to play Luke now.

Also, what does this mean for the Clone Wars show? It was getting pretty intense... now are they going to make it more kid-friendly again???

I feel like everything I ever knew was a lie...

Like, I know this is probably redundant to say here, but Star Wars is literally my childhood and MY LIFEE. Are they going to completely change the Zahn/EU timeline? What about Jacen and Yuuzhan Vong and Mara and sdjfl;asdjlfudofjawer;gjawdofjlasd;jflasd;fjlsd;ajflasdjfosd i can't i just can't please pink i need one of your gifs XD

wow but I am still a bit skeptical until i see the conference I am stubborn what can i say i honestly don't know if i am happy about this or not I really don't want to see another starwar movie i liked where they ended and to make a movie so soon. I don't know

Oh my word, guys! I just heard about it!!!!!!!!! ...... *shakes head* I have a very bad feeling about this.

I'm not sure what I think about it; it all feels really weird and not real even though I know it is. While I'd love to see movies made out of EU material(like Jude Watson and Matthew Stover's work) I'm worried that they might disregard canon(though George Lucas did mention the EU in the interview so there is some hope).

One thing I'd like to happen is that I could actually be in a Star Wars film as a character.

Hopefully we'll all get the chance to! You're right, Siri. It feels like something out of the twilight zone. This does open a lot of opportunities for TLF and for us, and will regenerate the fandom, but if they don't do it right, it could all turn out really...not fun. XD

I agree. I have to admit, I'm glad SW isn't done yet. I was worried that there would be nothing left besides the EU once TCW finishes.

I am very scared yet excited about this. I think it depends on how Disney handles it. If Disney can keep current canon and not screw it up, this might be okay, especially if they do some stuff with the EU. But I'm mostly scared.

I agree, it could be either really good or really bad. Of course, if no one likes it, we can just not consider it canon(that's what I have to do a lot).

The problem is, it's a heck of a lot more likely that they'll throw the EU out the window, make up a whole new story, stick Luke with some mary sue, and wipe my beloved Jaina/NJO/Legacy/Mandos/Ben/Thrawn/LIFEEEEEE right out of existence.......

No! They can't get rid of Jaina, Mara, Ben, or Thrawn!! D:
Hopefully they'll do what they were going to do originally and base them around the Thrawn Trilogy; those were actually supposed to be episodes seven, eight, and nine.

I was really freaked out at first, but upon further research, it's not that bad. They plan on keeping to George's Star Wars, and he's even still the guy they get alll their ideas from. The movies are based on storylines that George already has written up, as well as books and comics!! SO THEY'RE KEEPING THE EU!!! WOOOOO!!! My only concern, will be if Disney goes too commercial. But I guess I can get over that. I'm looking forward to it, since it will be EU stories, not something some Disney monkey writer made up!

To be fair, they made the Avengers and it was pretty darn good. But if they turn TCW into P&F, I will hate Disney for all of eternity.

Technially Swa, I think Marvel made Avengers. Disney only bought the rights to Marvel, right?

Ugh, I'm going to be very peeved if the future of Star Wars is just EU type stuff. I don't like EU. That was blunt. But there it is.

LOL, well there isn't much else really... Those are the continuing stories that George Lucas came up with...and most people seem to love the EU!!
