Hey girls! It's been a long time since I've been on here. I just wanted to let you in on some exciting news. I've gotten a lot of homework done the last few days and will have some weekend time. Yay! So I'll be writing my week 3 post and my week 4 post this week and post them up at the end of the week. I'll also have my September feature post which will be up this weekend too. And if I have some time I'll start working on updating my Facebook Pages albums, if not that will be for the next weekend. Are you excited for the posts? Also how is school going for you all?

I'm going well! I'm excited to learn new stuff!

I have my dual enrollment class in Computers in Art at the community college this semester and it's been keeping me busy, but I'm really enjoying it. We just finished making an image based logo in Illustrator, and now we're working on a text based one.

We're going to start learning Indesign soon, I think.

I've been working with Photoshop Elements for the past couple years and it's really given me a foundation for learning these new programs.

Glad you're enjoying the class Rachel ! Indesign is a lot easier then Photoshop and Illustrator! At least I thought so...then again Photoshop use to be my arch-nemesis!

That's awesome that things are going well for all of you! My school is busy going over how to use Photoshop right now, and then we will be moving onto Illustrator. I've been playing with Photoshop for a while now so that class is easy, my design class has kept me very busy but its almost over. It's a short class. I'm going to go write my blog posts and put them up. I'll put the links below once they are up.

Hey Girls! Today is a big day for me in the realm of graphic design. It's my website's first anniversary. I've been putting up posts of recent work the past week and today I just posted a big announcement post on my website! I'd love to know what you think of the topics announced today.

I know some of you are into Photoshop and drawing. I was asked a while back to do a post about digital art and in particular how I do mine. I do it half traditionally on paper with pencil and pen and then paint it using Photoshop and a graphics tablet. I did a little tutorial showing the process along with some helpful tips and info. I'd love to know what you think of this new type of post and if maybe I should do more of them. Here's the link if you want to check it out:

Oh my goodness, SWF, that post was so helpful! I've been doing digital hybrid drawings like that for years but I never knew you could use multiply to get your lineart from the white bg layer to a transparent one. That will sure save me some time, thank you so much for sharing your technique!

As far as projects go...
Soon I'm going to design some flyers for the ministry of a lady in our home school group.
I'm also working on the design for an iPhone/iPad app my cousin is programming. It's been really fun to make my own playing card vectors for it.

Awesome Rachel, me too! Yeah I stumbled upon that when I was doing a piece a while back. It really helps! When you do them you get lots of layers so naming and placing them into groups can be really helpful to. Your super welcome. I'm thinking of doing more posts like this with tutorials and information and such.

Very cool blog design Pink! That is a very cool freebie, especially for people learning about web design. Hex code is the main one everyone should know how to use since it works across the board. Plus if you have Photoshop it shows it right in the color swatch box. When I do design I just copy and paste it into where I'm working. It's one of my most used features of Photoshop.

I posted another post today that is about new types of posts on the site. Again any feedback would be really helpful. I don't really have an idea of what anyone's enjoying on my site and I don't want to start a bunch of series that no one wants to read. If you haven't read the post above please read that one too.
