| Here's my BBQ sauce recipe! Well technically, it's Rachael Ray's, but it's still good.
Gather: • 2 tablespoons butter • 2 tablespoons flour • 1 cup chicken stock • 2 tablespoons honey • 1/4-1/2 cup BBQ sauce • Splash of pickle juice (optional)
Go: Melt the butter in a saucepot over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the flour and cook 2-3 minutes, until light brown in color. Add the chicken stock, honey and BBQ sauce, and cook until the mixture becomes thick gravy. If you like, add a splash of pickle juice to balance out the sweetness and Melt the butter in a saucepot over medium-high heat. Once the butter has melted, add the flour and cook 2-3 minutes, until light brown in color. Add the chicken stock, honey and BBQ sauce, and cook until the mixture becomes thick gravy. If you like, add a splash of pickle juice to balance out the sweetness and add a bit of “tang”. Serve with chicken fingers.

| Here's the recipe for the German dessert that my friend (who's a foreign exchange student from Germany) and I made yesterday:
Hazelnut Corners
Gather: • 1 cup Flour • ½ tsp. Baking Powder • Sugar • 1 egg • Butter • Apricot Jam • ¼ lb. grounded Hazelnuts • ¼ lb. minced Hazelnuts • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract • Water
(Note: Original recipe measurements were in grams. Those are the best possible conversions I could come up with.)
Go: Make dough by mixing flour, baking powder, 1/8 lb. sugar, 1 egg, and 1/8 lb. butter in a bowl. Leonie (the person who gave us the recipe) suggested doubling the dough. Coat baking pan with cooking spray or butter. Spread dough in the bottom of the pan. Cover the dough layer with apricot jam. “Bake it for a little while”. Heat ¼ lb. butter in a saucepan and let it completely melt. Then add ¼ lb. sugar, vanilla extract, the grounded and minced hazelnuts and 2 spoonfuls of water and mix. Put the mixture on top of the apricot layer. Bake at 375˚F for 20-30 minutes. Let it cool off and cut it into squares, then in triangles. Dip triangles into chocolate and enjoy! | |
