Culture and Heritage

I created this topic so we can all share our background and where we come from.

I'm Plains Cree. From the as you guessed the plains of North America. The Plains Cree is just a branch of the Cree people. There is Swampy, Woodland and Plains Cree. Each has it's own lanuage and culture and way of life. The Cree people have a very big territory ranging from the Rockies all the way to the great Lakes and North and South of it.

We hunted buffalo and migrated with it. Now if we want buffalo we have to buy it from a breeder! That's not right!!

Well I'm tired and I wanna go to bed. If you like I can post more of my culture.

P.S. We do not live in teepees anymore and we haven't for a long time. A few times when I travel people will ask me that after they find out I'm Cree. We live in houses just like you.

People ask if you live in teepees? The people who ask that must have a serious lack of common sense.

I have a lot of German heritage. Also some Native American, but I don't know which tribe.

I am Irish, Polish, Scottish, German, French and Arabic

I am 100% Floridian too. XDDDD Born and raised folks!

My Grandma was French, so I'm a quarter French. I've never been to France though, but I'm taking French for my high school language.

I'm Chinese.

Yay for chow mein and takeout boxes and all that.

I am almost half German. The rest of me is English, Scottish, Irish, and I think I MIGHT have had an ancestor from Espana. (Spain)

I'm a quarter Dutch. Then I'm Irish, Scottish, French and Canadian.

As for me, there's nothing much interesting. I was born and raised in Georgia, and I know I have a tiny bit of Scottish in me and an even tinier bit of Irish. And I know my great-grandmother was half Corsican. But that's about it; I don't know of any other non-American ancestors. :3

LOL, I don't think Canadian is it's own "race" like Spanish and or French might be.

Yeah, I think the people who asked me that don't know much about us as they thhink they do.

I LIVE in Canada, though. I really AM Canadian. XD

I'm mostly German, Italian, and Cherokee Indian.

I forgot what I am exactly. I know that I'm part Cherokee. And, I do know that I'm related to Mary Surratt, the first women hung in America who was a part of Lincoln assassination.

EDIT (years later...): I'm actually a direct descendant of Mary Surratt, so it's not like "Oh, she's my sixth cousin six times removed" or something. I'll see if I can find how far up the tree she is, but I do know she from my dad's mom's mom's (my MeMa's) side. Oh, and I think my mom's mom's granddad (or great-granddad) was Cherokee. But aside from that, I'd have to check to see what else I am. I know I'm part English somewhere because my dad has a copy of some papers that date some part of my family to London in the 1600s or something (maybe it was earlier like 1400s or something).

I have a distant cousin who was/is an actor/singer. Remember the show "Even Steven's" from Disney Channel (WAY BACK WHEN)? My cousin played Louis's best friend. Pretty cool actually! He also did the original theme song for "American Dragon Jake Long".
